Core Understanding One
God created us and loves us.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them (Genesis1:27)
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. (John 1:3)
But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious; slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness (Psalm 86:15)
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are (1 John 3:1)

Core Understanding Three
God has provided a gift to remove that separation – Jesus Christ.
Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but through Me’ (John 14:6).
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit (1 Peter 3:18)
The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
Core Understanding Four
We can receive this gift through repentant faith.

God is not willing for men to perish but wants all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9)
God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16)
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved (Romans 10:9-10)
By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as result of works that no one should boast (Ephesians 2:8,9)
